Wash, dry & fold vs laundromat vs dry cleaning: which do you need?

Use wash, dry & fold for everyday washing you don't want to do yourself, a self-service laundromat when you'd rather do it yourself but have no machine or dryer at home, and a dry cleaner for anything labelled Dry Clean Only, like suits, silk and wool coats. Most households need the first two far more often than the third.

Wash, dry & fold: your everyday washing, done for you

With wash, dry & fold (often just called wash and fold) you hand over a bag of everyday washing and get it back clean, dry and folded. You don't sort, load, wait or fold.

With Laundry Load we also collect it from your door and bring it back, so there's no trip at all. You choose the wash temperature and dry setting, we wash it at our own laundromat, and it's back within 48 hours, or 24 with Express.

  • Best for: clothes, activewear, towels, sheets and bedding
  • You pay: per load by size, from $49 for up to 6kg
  • Your time: a minute to book and leave the bag out

More about how it works on our wash, dry & fold page.

Self-service laundromat: you do it, faster

A laundromat gives you bigger washers and dryers than most homes have, so a week's washing can be done in one visit. It's a good option if you don't have a dryer, or you want to wash doonas and bulky items in one go.

The trade-off is time: getting there, waiting for the machines, and folding it all yourself. If you live near Wentworth Point, LaundDry is our own laundromat and it's where every Laundry Load order is washed.

  • Best for: people who like doing it themselves, or have bulky items
  • You pay: per machine cycle
  • Your time: usually an hour or two, including the trip

Dry cleaning: for what can't go in water

Dry cleaning uses solvents instead of water, for fabrics and garments that would shrink, lose their shape or bleed in a normal wash. Check the care label: if it says Dry Clean Only, take it to a dry cleaner.

We don't offer dry cleaning. Items labelled Dry Clean Only, and silk, leather, fur, velvet and cashmere, aren't part of our wash, dry & fold service.

  • Best for: suits, formal wear, silk, wool coats, structured garments
  • You pay: per item
  • Your time: a drop-off and a pick-up

Which one for what?

  • Weekly clothes, gym gear, towels: wash, dry & fold
  • Sheets and pillowcases: wash, dry & fold
  • A doona or big blankets, if you want them done today: a self-service laundromat
  • Suits, silk, cashmere, anything Dry Clean Only: a dry cleaner

Many households use two of the three: a weekly wash, dry & fold pickup for the everyday load and a dry cleaner a few times a year. Not sure about an item? Add a note when you book or call us on (02) 8552 8608.
