How to choose a commercial laundry service in Sydney

Compare commercial laundry services on more than the price per kilo: how they charge and which minimums or fees apply, how reliable their pickup and return schedule is, where your laundry is actually washed, what they won't take, and what happens if something is lost or damaged. Ask every service the same questions, and compare the monthly total for your real volume instead of the headline rate.

Start with what you send

Before you ask for quotes, write down what you wash in a normal week: the items (towels, sheets, table linen, uniforms), roughly how many pieces or kilos, how often you need a pickup and how quickly you need it back. It makes quotes comparable, and it shows quickly which services suit a business your size.

Questions to ask every laundry

  • How do you charge: per kilo, per item or per bag? Is there a minimum order or a delivery fee?
  • Is there a contract or a minimum term?
  • Which days do you collect and return, and what's the usual turnaround?
  • Where is the laundry washed: in your own facility, or is it sent to someone else?
  • What don't you take? Clinical, contaminated and Dry Clean Only items are often excluded
  • What happens if something is lost, damaged or comes back not clean?
  • Can the schedule change with busy and quiet seasons?

Compare the monthly cost, not the rate

A low price per kilo can still cost more each month once minimum orders, delivery fees, rush charges or extras for folding are added. Take a normal week, ask each laundry what it would cost in total, and multiply by four.

Count the time it saves your staff as well. If someone spends an hour a day washing and folding towels now, that hour is part of the comparison.

Match the service to your business

  • Cafés and restaurants: tea towels, aprons and table linen, often several pickups a week
  • Salons, spas and clinics: towels and robes in steady rotation
  • Gyms and pools: high towel volumes on predictable days
  • Short-stay hosts: sheets and towels timed around check-outs
  • Healthcare: non-clinical linen only, unless the laundry is set up for clinical work
